Dunbar Springs Traffic Circle Signs

If you’ve been in Dunbar Springs lately you may have noticed the artistic signs in the neighborhood have been redone to account for UV sun damage or replaced because of damage from vehicles. Thank you to the Department of Transportation and Mobility (DTM) and Arts Foundation for Tucson and Southern Arizona for leading this restoration project. These signs were initially created in 2003 by local artist Mary Lucking and they breathe life into our community!

A win for casitas!

The city has been working to develop pre-approved model plans for Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) to make casitas more affordable and further promote multigenerational housing. We’re excited to announce that last week the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) awarded the City of Tucson an AARP 2023 Community Challenge grant to launch an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Design Competition. Selected designs will be featured in Tucson’s Casita Model Plan Catalog.

The AARP grant represents a significant milestone to bolster ADUs and specifically addresses the housing needs of older adults and multigenerational families! More information will be released in July about guidelines for the ADU Model Plan Competition, rules for submission, criteria for review of proposals, and a virtual public information session.

Public Comment Welcomed for Six
Superior Court Hearing Officer Applicants

The Superior Court in Pima County invites public comments no later than noon on Tuesday, July 18, regarding applicants for a Hearing Officer vacancy. The position will become available due to Hon. Lee Ann Roads’ forthcoming retirement.

Hearing Officers work as judicial officers for the Superior Court, interpreting and applying local and state laws during various family law, civil, and criminal court proceedings.

Eight applications were reviewed by the court’s Hearing Officer Selection Committee, and the following six attorneys will be interviewed by the committee on July 24, between 1:00 and 5:00 p.m., in conference room 920 of the Superior Court building.

FUGA Ride

Join the Ward 1 staff and FUGA for the monthly Bicis y Burros Ride this Sunday from 8-11 a.m. out of the Ward 1 Office, 940 W Alameda St. This is a free mobility event for all levels of ridership. Fugista Liz will lead this ride which will be a total of 6.84 miles roundtrip. We will ride to Catalina Park Splash Pad to cool off and enjoy our burros. Bring your bici, a water bottle & a towel if you want to get wet!
